The popularity of sarees has increased over the centuries. Now, you will even find a foreigner donning a saree with much grace! Every woman should have a saree in their wardrobe. It is several yards long and is quite a task to wear it right. Once, you get the hang of it, you will wear it within minutes! You will need a blouse and a petticoat to wear beneath the saree. Outlined here is a way to wear the saree:

Wear the blouse and the petticoat. Spread the saree to its full length. Wrap the saree around the waistline; tuck it neatly into the petticoat. Hold the top end of the saree in the right hand and go around the waist several times. Pleat the saree in the front, make at least eight to ten pleats then tuck it nicely into the petticoat at the naval. See that the pleats fall in an even and straight manner. Take the remaining of the saree gently around the waistline, bringing it under the right arm. Make sure that its quite tight around the waist and hips. You should be comfortable. Take the saree over the left arm, cover the portion between the knees and bustline. You are done. Make sure that you use pins to keep the folds and pleats in place. You don’t want it to fall out do you!

This style can be worn for interviews and office. There are formal sarees for office online. Office wear sarees have a formal colour such as navy blue, beige, white, grey, black, light pastel hues and tan. The design and patterns are simple and less pulsating. Some prefer to wear embroidered sarees to office and interviews while some like printed, colour dyed or simple floral designs. In summer, cotton sarees are the best. You will not fit warm or hot. It will feel cool and light. There are cotton blends available such as rayon and khadi. Don’t go for a nude look with sarees. It is best to lightly accessorize it with bracelets or bangles, necklaces and earrings. If you are going for an interview, don’t wear too heavy or big jewellery. It will catch the interviewer off guard and hinder the interview. Plus, it gives a very informal and unprofessional look. Moreover, the work culture fashion in India is evolving.
